Roop Raag Award 2003
Roop Raag is the most successful group based on classical and light Hindustani music in Manipur. Renown artistes like N Pahari, Asem Bimola, Khun Joykumar, Laishram Mema, Sanaton Sharma, Nava Volcano and others were associated with Roop Raag and contributed much to popularise it. Over the decades, Roop Raag has produced hundreds of singers and musicians in Manipur. Today, the group, with over 45 years of experience, is still looking forward to shape the destiny of many young talents. Every year, Roop Raag celebrates its anniversary besides giving awards to prominent artistes of Manipur. In 2003, Tapta was honoured with the esteemed Roop Raag Award for his noteworthy contribution to modern Manipuri music.
